In their debut EP 'Wings', the band works together to craft high-energy rock infected with vulnerability.
Since their formation, The Corvids have slowly climbed the ranks of the alt-rock world. Focusing on fan connection and community building, they have spent their time perfecting their sound on the Leeds Live Circuit. With standout performances at Royal Park Cellars and The Landing Room, their infectious live energy pulses through every track.
Last year, the band released their debut single, ‘Aurelia.’ This created a solid foundation for their debut EP ‘Wings.’ In their debut EP, they follow in the footsteps of new indie favourites Wunderhorse. They create dynamic and evocative music which captures raw emotion. ‘Wings’ shows that the future of UK rock is in great hands.

The band started teasing ‘Wings’ last year with their second single, 'Outside My Mind.’ In this EP, they perfected the balance of high raw energy with vulnerable lyrics. Their dedication to their craft shines through this project. ‘Wings’ is gritty and full of lyrics that will stay with you for days.
‘Shoot Your Gun’ demands your attention and is the perfect opener. The strong bassline and gritty vocals work together to create a mysterious and alluring introduction. ‘Shoot Your Gun’ is a track that deserves a place on the Peaky Blinders soundtrack. Sonically, it matches Tommy Shelby perfectly. The Corvids could not have picked a better start for their debut EP. It lulls you in before you are sucker punched in the face by explosive drums in the chorus. It sets the tone for the rest of the EP, which is dark indie-rock full of emotion.
Each track flows into another, creating a cohesive experience. Not once does the EP fall flat; throughout, the energy increases. You can tell this is a band that knows who they are and won’t let anyone tell them otherwise. Even the slower songs on the EP keep up with the high-energy anthems. Tracks like ‘Tattoo On My Chest’ and ‘Roses’ play a crucial part in the narrative and sonic identity. These slower songs showcase the band's lyrical ability; they are lyrical craftsmen who aren't afraid of vulnerability. They know how to accompany the lyrics with the right instrumentals that help tell the story best.

‘Tattoo On My Chest’ is the EP highlight, one that will become a live favourite. Thanks to the slow build throughout the song, you are taken on a journey. One that will be best experienced in a sweaty room full of people screaming the lyrics alongside you. Although this is one of the quieter songs on the EP, it shows the band at their best. This shows off their sonic teamwork and the importance of allowing lyrics to speak for themselves. ‘Tattoo On My Chest’ captures the mess that comes with moving on and growing up. The quieter guitar fights with the loud drums and bassline. This sonic fight seamlessly captures the urge to evolve and the urge to be comfortable.
‘Wings’ shows that teamwork is the most important part of any new band. The willingness to listen to each other and know when to step back. Everything is so well throughout, and the lyrics tell a story that everyone can relate to but can’t put into words. This is an EP to remember, one that will put the band into a new league. Proving they deserve a place in the UK’s indie scene. There is a comfortable familiarity to this EP, like you are listening to a band that has been around for years. The Corvids can only go up from here. The question is, how far will they go?
